Celebrating 10 Years of the JTF

A Decade of Advancing Clinical Trial Competency: Celebrating the JTF’s 10th Anniversary

The Joint Task Force for Clinical Trial Competency (JTF) is marking a significant milestone this year: its 10th anniversary! Established in 2013, the JTF has played a pivotal role in advancing the field of clinical research by developing and promoting a globally recognized competency framework for clinical research professionals.

A Shared Vision for Excellence

The JTF was born out of a shared vision among stakeholders across the clinical research enterprise – academic institutions, pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations (CROs), clinical research sites, and professional societies – of the need for a standardized set of competencies to ensure the safety, ethics, and quality of clinical trials.

The JTF Core Competency Framework

In 2014, the JTF published its landmark achievement: the JTF Core Competency Framework. This framework outlines the essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for clinical research professionals at different career stages. It has been widely adopted by organizations around the world to develop training programs, assess competency, and guide career development.

A Decade of Impact

Over the past decade, the JTF has made significant contributions to the field of clinical research:

  • Standardized competencies: The JTF Core Competency Framework has provided a common language and benchmark for clinical research professionals, fostering collaboration and consistency across the research enterprise.
  • Improved training and development: The framework has informed the development of training programs and educational resources, ensuring that clinical research professionals are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Enhanced career development: The framework has helped individuals chart their career paths by identifying the competencies needed for advancement.
  • Global reach: The JTF has translated the framework into multiple languages and partnered with organizations around the world to promote its adoption.

Looking Ahead

As the JTF enters its next decade, it remains committed to its mission of advancing clinical trial competency. The organization is currently working on several initiatives, including:

  • Updating the JTF Core Competency Framework: The framework is being revised to reflect the evolving landscape of clinical research.
  • Promoting global adoption: The JTF is expanding its reach by translating the framework into additional languages and partnering with new organizations.
  • Developing new resources: The JTF is creating new resources to support the implementation of the framework, such as competency assessment tools and training modules.

A Celebration of Collaboration

The JTF’s success is a testament to the power of collaboration. The organization brings together a diverse group of stakeholders with a shared commitment to improving the quality of clinical research. As we celebrate the JTF’s 10th anniversary, we look forward to continuing this collaboration and making an even greater impact on the field of clinical research in the years to come.
